Wild Night Hill
Wild Night Hill PGM – nickel – copper project is represented by a 70 block exploration license (E38/1433) covering an area of 211 km2 and located over a major magnetic anomaly and coincident low level gravity anomaly 100 km northeast of Laverton. The magnetic anomaly coincides with the intersection of the major E-W Laverton Dyke and the NNW trending greenstone belt that contains the small Mt Venn layered mafic/ultramafic intrusion. The Mt Venn prospect, occurring 25 km north of the tenement, contains low-grade nickel and copper sulphides. Precambrian rocks do not outcrop within the tenement that is masked by younger Permian cover (~40m deep).
Innovative partial geochemical methods have been applied to MAGLAG samples to analyse for loosely held mobile metal ions that theoretically can provide evidence of potentially buried mineralisation below the younger transported sedimentary cover. The partially digested MAGLAG samples have returned anomalous platinum (up to 5 ppb Pt) and gold (up to 4.2 ppb Au) values directly above the magnetic high at Wild Night Hill and provide encouragement for potential mineralisation at depth.
The Wild Night Hill Project represents a potential buried target for PGM, nickel and copper mineralisation associated with a feeder occurring within the E–W dyke and now manifested as a major aeromagnetic anomaly and coincident gravity high. The area clearly warrants further investigation by additional partial geochemical MAGLAG sampling, followed by RC drilling.
