Mt Padbury gold project represents a 5 block Exploration Licence (E52/1651), located approximately 120 km north of Meekatharra in the Peak Hill Goldfield. The tenement covers the Beatty Park gold prospect that was discovered by BLEG geochemical sampling in the 1990s and occurs within the Palaeoproterozoic Glengarry Basin.
The Glengarry Basin is recognised as being well mineralised with important past producers such as Horseshoe Lights and the Peak Hill mine as well as relatively recent gold producers including the Fortnum and Labouchere mines. Gleneagle Gold Limited announced a 1 Moz gold resource of 1Moz at Fortnum. Gleneagle Gold located strongly anomalous rock chip values (up to 299 g/t Au) at the Doolgunna Project, approximately 70 km southeast of the Mt Padbury, attesting to the potential for grassroots gold exploration in the Glengarry Basin.
The Mt Padbury tenement is largely covered by superficial alluvial deposits of the Murchison River and Mt Fraser Creek drainages. Outcrop is limited to a few areas. Previous exploration by Mines and Resources Australia Pty Ltd including ground magnetics and a grid-based BLEG geochemical programme resulted in the discovery of the Beatty Park prospect. Ore grade gold RC intercepts at the Beatty Park South prospect, near Mt Padbury in the Peak Hill Goldfield include 1m @ 28.65 g/t Au (PRC 02) and 5m @ 15.25 g/t Au (PRC 08).
BLEG gold geochemical anomalies were followed – up by several RAB and RC drilling campaigns. Follow-up of some of the geochemical anomalies was inhibited by the terrain, and isolated BLEG highs (up to 41 ppb Au) remain untested. RAB and RC drilling results achieved significant results although limited follow – up diamond drilling (3 holes for an aggregate 465 m) returned subdued results with all assays <0.9 g/t Au.
Peak RAB drill hole intercepts included:
Follow – up RC drilling achieved the following results:
